A Short Intro On Tantra Yoga For Newbies

Posted by on January 23, 2009

Probably the most misunderstood of all the yoga forms practiced in the West, Tantra yoga has the essence of the ancient teachings. In its purest form, Tantra yoga grew out of the ancient Indian culture and it pursued to help people achieve a form of non-dual life carried along a sacred path. The modern connotations attributed to Tantra yoga are in fact a defilement of the sacred essence of the practice that results from the mis-translation of some Indian texts by people with little experience in the domain. The difficulty came from the abundance of metaphors used in Tantra yoga teachings particularly because  they described experiences that had to be felt individually as consciousness forms.

Tantra yoga insists on the heart focus and the perception of the world through the experience of love and harmony that are also common concepts to taoist Chinese philosophy and to the biblical texts. Various divisions can be identified within Tantra yoga too, and this is obvious in the Tibetan Tantra yoga school and its teaching. For the Tibetans, the practice of Tantra yoga was kept in monasteries most of the time and it got to be explained on paper in very much the way it was expressed in speech.

According to Tantra yoga practice, the superior path to take is that which combines the love-heart, the will-hand and the wisdom-head in one harmonious whole. It all starts with love and the practice of yoga stresses the importance of the becoming process rather than the achievement of the goal. The sexual bias added to Tantra yoga represent a corruption of the original practice thus, instead of the balancing of the yin and yang within each of us, Tantra yoga is believed to seek the union with another person.

You should choose guidance in the secrets of Tantra yoga very cautiously  since lots of so-called yoga masters are far from being accomplished in the practice. If the line of the tradition were to be respected, then, the leading of a trainee on the Tantra yoga path falls into the responsibility of a guru who has gone a long way on the journey for self discovery too. In terms of overall goal, like many other yoga variants, Tantra makes efforts in the direction of the spiritual awakening of any being and the fulfillment that results from enjoying sheer freedom at all levels of existence.

The Real Secret Of Attraction

Posted by on January 21, 2009

What is the secret of attraction? You probably know this has become one of the hottest new ideas in self improvement and spirituality. But it isn’t a new idea. It is just the newest way to recycle an old idea. Old or new, the important questions are does it work as claimed, and why?

A “Law” Of Attraction?

Here is the basic idea: You attract more of what you think about. Keep thoughts about getting rich in your mind constantly, and money will come your way. Continually imagine the perfect woman, and soon she will appear at your side. It is often presented like this. Of course, years ago, in previous incarnations, it was more common to teach this idea as part of general goal-setting techniques, where it was assumed that you would also be taking relevant actions to achieve your goals. In this latest version, the action part is glossed over, almost as if it isn’t necessary.

Naturally, we like the idea of easy ways to get what we want, and of simple “laws” that can help us. Our knowledge of the laws of nature and mathematics allowed men to fly to the moon. Wouldn’t it be great if we could discover infallible “laws” of  self improvement and success? Simple formulas that get us anything we want - I like that. But “laws” like these tend to be mere probabilities unfortunately.

How inspiring is “the probability of attraction?” Not very. “Think these thoughts and you’ll improve your odds of getting what you want” just doesn’t sell the books as well as “Think these thoughts and your success is guaranteed by the ultimate laws of reality.” But enough of poking fun at the sellers of mystical certainties - let’s look at how this really works.

Is The Reticular Cortex The Secret Of Attraction?

The reticular cortex is a small organ in your brain, a kind of “gatekeeper” that directs incoming stimulus to your conscious or unconscious mind. With your thoughts and what you focus on, you more or less instruct it as to what to bring to your attention. For example, if you start studying flowers, you will likely start to see flowers all over that you never previously noticed. You essentially instructed your reticular cortex to let in anything about flowers and related information.

Keep your thoughts focused on money, and this part of your brain will make you more aware of things related to money, even possibly opportunities to make some money. Imagine meeting the woman of your dreams repeatedly, and you’ll probably become aware of more opportunities for this to happen. This is one way in which the brain works, and we can use such “attraction techniques” to help us get what we want.

But the important, if uninspiring word here, is “probably”. If you start to believe that such “secrets” always work, you will likely give up on the idea when you fail, or blame yourself (you just didn’t have enough faith, right?). Neither of these is a very productive approach to getting what you want. It is better to accept that sometimes things work and sometimes they don’t, and that if you keep trying in ways that increase the probabilities of success, you’ll almost certainly achieve your goals more often.

Focus on your goals then, because it does increase the probabilities of success, by putting the reticular cortex to work. However, you should also learn what you need to learn, and do what you need to do to get what you want. Getting your mind AND your actions working towards that goal is the real secret of attraction.

Seven Habits for Personal Effectiveness

Posted by on January 21, 2009

Excerpts from Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Stephen R. Covey is an internationally respected leadership authority and teacher, chairman and founder of Covey Leadership Center.

1) Be Proactive
“You are the creator, you are in charge”. It is based on the four unique human requirements of imagination, conscience, independent will, and particularly, self-awareness. Empowers you to say, “I can change”. The first and most basic habit of a highly effective person in any environment is the habit of being proactive. Being proactive means that as human beings, we are accountable for our own lives. Hence, we have the initiative and the responsibility to make things happen.

2) Begin with the End in Mind
It is a mental creation, based on imagination - the ability to envision, to see the potential; and conscience - the ability to detect our own uniqueness and the personal, moral and ethical guidelines within which we can most happily fulfill it. To begin with the end in mind means to begin each day with a clear understanding of your desired direction and the objective. By keeping that end in mind you can make sure that whatever you do on any particular day does not violate the criteria you have defined as supremely important, and that each day of your life contributes in a meaningful way to the vision you have of your life as a whole.

3) Put First Things First
It is the exercise of independent will towards becoming principle-centered. It’s the day-in day-out, moment-by-moment doing things. What are first things? First things are those things that you, personally, find most worth doing. They drive you in the right direction and help you achieve the goal.

4) Think Win/Win
Win/Win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. It means that agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial, mutually satisfying. Win/win is a belief in the Third Alternative’. It’s not your way or my way; it’s a better way. In relationships and businesses, effectiveness is largely achieved through the cooperative efforts of two or more people. Win-Win is based on the paradigm that there is plenty for everybody, that one person’s success is not achieved at the expense or exclusion of the success of others. Win-Win sees life as a cooperative, not a competitive arena.

5) Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Communication is the most important skill in life. We spend most of our life communicating. But consider this: You’ve spent years learning how to read and write and years learning how to speak. But what about listening? What training or education have you had that enables you to listen so that you really, deeply understand another human being from that individuals’ own frame of reference? With maturity, comes a balance between courage and consideration. Seeking to understand requires consideration; seeking to be understood takes courage. Win/win requires a high degree of both.

6) Synergise
Synergy is the essence of principle-centered leadership. It catalyses, unifies, and unleashes the greatest power within people. It is the highest activity in all life - the true test and manifestation of all the habits put together. Synergy is everywhere in nature. For example, the intermingled roots of two plants growing closely together improve the quality of the soil.

7) Sharpen the Saw
This is the habit that makes all the others possible. It is preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have - YOU. It’s the renewing the four dimensions of your nature - physical, spiritual, mental and social/emotional. Without this discipline, the body becomes weak, the mind mechanical, the emotions raw, the spirit insensitive, and the person selfish.

The Seven Habits explained above are habits of effectiveness. Because they are based on principles, they bring the maximum long-term beneficial results possible. They become the basis of a person’s character, creating an empowering center of correct maps from which an individual can effectively solve problems, maximize opportunities, and continually learn and integrate other principles in an upward spiral of growth. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People provide a holistic, integrated approach to personal and interpersonal effectiveness. Taken together, the Seven Habits cultivate personal character, which is the foundation of effectiveness.

Posted by on January 10, 2009

Hypnosis has captivated the minds of many people for years. Today the art of hypnosis has become so well honed that when you want to learn hypnosis you have the benefit of many years of trial and error, even research and studies that have been performed. What was once unsubstantiated concepts of how the mind works and how hypnosis actually unlocks and allows you to access those subconscious thoughts, changing even how you consciously process information, is now established fact.

There are many ways to find a hypnosis course now including the most accessible way using the online websites that offer you not only the learn hypnosis courses in many different levels and uses of the technology, but with the current structure of the web there are many support features on these sites such as chat forums, chat rooms, and ticket support systems that allow you to ask questions and learn from both the course creators and the other people “in your class” whom are training in the art form.

Hypnosis is a powerful concept because it allows you to dig down deep and dissolve those liminting beliefs that were often built out of ignorance or fear. Constructs in your mind that have been reinforced so many times that filters were built making it difficult to break out of the spell you’ve been in for years. With hypnosis you can go in, see and understand the very first things that caused the problem and you can in seconds dissolve it’s hold on you, crashing down years of reinforced belief systems in an instant. This gives you the power to create new more productive ways of thinking and all those items that were holding your discipline back are no longer trapping you in bad thought forms.

Effectively, anyone who learns hypnosis will have built a skill set that will make them more powerful in their own life than they ever imagined they could be. To learn hypnosis is to begin a journey of self discovery as well as having the tools you need to take your life into a direction that you’ve always desired. Hypnosis can help you clean out your mind’s closet and start anew. Learning hypnosis is the first step in a journey to prosperity in all it’s forms.

The Law Of Attraction Results With The Power of Subliminal Messages

Posted by on January 4, 2009

All of us want our lives to be perfect. We all want money, success, love and happiness, yet how many of us actually get it all? Unfortunately most of us spend a better part of our lives thinking about what we don’t have. We see people who’ve got things we believe we deserve and let jealousy slither into our minds. Have you ever felt sorry for yourself and convinced yourself that this is the way things are meant to be. The truth is that god wanted the best for us, and still does. Our negative thoughts and actions stop us from experiencing the higher joys of life. There is a simple law of the universe behind it; it’s called the “Law of attraction.”

What is the Law of attraction?

What is this law of attraction? “The secret” talks about it, Oprah believes in it. Intellectuals are debating about it. The law of attraction simply means that we get what we focus on the most through our thoughts, feelings and actions. If you constantly think about how unlucky you are then bad luck is brought into your life. If we constantly feel jealous of other people then we will only bring more jealous thoughts and feelings into our hearts and into the reality of our lives. If we cheat someone, the same shall happen to us!

The “Law of attraction” is not some new age principle, if you open your eyes and ears and look around you’ll realize that almost every religion in the world talks about it in one way or the other. Haven’t we always been told what goes around comes around? The problem is that we always assumed that’s it only our actions which have repercussions and didn’t realize that more than actions it our thoughts that shape our lives. After all we spend a major part of our waking hours, thinking.

How to make the law of attraction work for you

Think Positive

One way to attract what you want into your life is to stop yourself whenever you find emotions like jealousy, self pity or negative thoughts creeping into your mind and force yourself to think positive. However this would require a lot of self control and effort.

Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations can also help you attract good fortune into your life. Telling yourself everyday that you deserve the best and visualizing a fulfilling life are powerful techniques, which can make the law of attraction work for you.

Work with the subconscious

Working with the subconscious mind can also help you reshape your thinking process and attract whatever you want into your life. This can be done through several methods, but two common approaches are either hypnosis or subliminal messages. Both involve giving suggestions to the subconscious mind. In the former suggestion are given by a trained therapist after inducing a hypnotic state and in the latter suggestions are given through messages embedded in music, text or video. Audio Cds are the most commonly used instruments for transmitting subliminal messages (for self help purposes). In these law of attraction subliminal CDs messages and suggestions are either hidden behind music or can be played in reverse, or even at a faster speed so that we can’t consciously understand them. Often, subliminal messages are moved above the level of human hearing (above 20,000 Hz).

Clinical hypnosis or even a law of attraction cd is not mind control, these techniques can only help if you believe in the law of attraction and are willing to live by its principles - they will give you a boost, but you must lso do some work yourself They are just one tool that you should use, but you need to think about it still and work towards your goals just as much.
